The
Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday flagged off free
feeding in the state primary schools in what the governor described as a
fulfillment of his pledge to provide free education to pupils in Kaduna
state. According to him, the free feeding programme is expected to
benefit 1.5 million children in over 4,000 pubic primary schools across
the state.
Meanwhile Social crusaders and activists from Kaduna, have
released pictures to condemn the School feeding initiative maintaining
the the program was unnecessary and a charade especially given the state
of infrastructure decay in the school which should have been first
addressed.
According to a commenter, he said that government of
Kaduna should have ’empowered their parents and use the food money to
equip the class.’ Another activist Zina Dabo said on twitter; “Seriously
@elrufai do you think what these kids need is propaganda slice of yam
not chairs? @shehusani @NGRWailers“
According to El-Rufai, the
programme is directly creating 17,000 jobs for caterers, who in turn
will employ others to support them. “It is an unprecedented undertaking
in the state, but one that we solemnly pledge to do during the campaign.
“In
seeking to take care of our children we are creating jobs, boosting
demand and expanding people to new skills and hygienic standard, and
providing extra income.”
The pictures show students in schools
without furniture; chairs and tables who were seen eating from the
plates across various primary schools in the state. Photos below:
These
are the pictures the governor unfortunately doesn't want you to see.
And it ties in with the typical APC leadership style - Ignore the basic
essentials you're supposed to provide, and focus on the cosmetic and
unsustainable political gestures that will only earn you quick and easy
brownie points from the gullible.
This man couldn't provide desks,
teachers and laboratory infrastructure, he skipped them all for this
recurrent expenditure that will do nothing to improve the QUALITY of
education in those schools.
This was the exact same way a certain
governor employed Twitter shills and media jesters to whitewash his
image with endless propaganda for all of 2012, 2013 and 2014, until the
crash in oil prices exposed him for the wasteful, shortsighted, and
totally CLUELESS leader he really was ('Oil prices have fallen, so my
hands are tied. I can't pay your salaries. in the mean time, pray for
the state. Bye').
And the same thing looks to play out in Kaduna soon.
