APC In Confusion Over Fr. Mbaka Transfer From Parish

The All Progressive Congress on Sunday condemned the transfer of the founder of the Adoration Ministries, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, to a new parish by the Enugu Catholic Diocese.

Mbaka was moved from the Christ the King Parish, G.R.A, in Enugu metropolis, which he presided over as parish priest for over 20 years, to Our Lady Parish, in Emene, a suburb of the Coal City.

It was gathered that Mbaka, who was the parish priest-in-charge at the CKC Parish, G.R.A, will serve as an assistant parish priest in the new parish.

In a statement made available to journalists in Enugu, the APC South-East Caucus spokesman, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said “it was wrong to punish the fearless priest for his prophecies which has proved to be from God”.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday raised the alarm that having lost the war to the nation’s armed forces, insurgents are desperately seeking ways of returning to the society to wreak havoc.

Panic As 1-Million-Boys Robbery Gang Writes Ojo, Badagry Residents

Within three days, residents of Ojo and Badagary local government areas have not slept following a recent letter purportedly written to the residents by the dreaded and ruthless robbery gang called One Million Boys in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

High Tension Wire Kills Carpenter, Wife In Lagos

There was calamity in the Mushin area of Lagos State after a 51-year-old carpenter, Muritador Ajayi, was electrocuted by a live high-tension wire.

Source hints that the deceased was working on the roof of a building under construction on Bamigboye Street, when power was suddenly restored to the area.

Muritador’s hammer was said to have touched the wire as he raised it to drive in a nail, which led to his electrocution.

Supreme Court Upholds Wike’s Election As Rivers Governor - Premium Time

The Supreme court has uphold the election of Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party as governor of the oil-rich Rivers State.
The court gave the ruling today, Wednesday but did not provide reasons for its judgment.
It said detailed reasons for the verdict would be provided on February 12.
The Court of Appeal had on December 16  affirmed the judgment of the Rivers Governorship Election Tribunal.
The appeal court had  ruled that Mr. Wike was not validly elected.
The Rivers Tribunal had earlier on October 24 nullified Mr. Wike’s election.

OAU Suspension 3 Students Union Leaders For 14 Semesters

Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, have suspended three student union leaders for allegedly assaulting a professor.
The students are the President of the student body, Omotayo Akande who bagged six semesters (three years); PRO, Emmanuel Ojedokun – four semesters (two years); and Secretary General, Seun Oketooto – four semesters (two years).
 
The trio are all final year students and they would have started their examinations in the next two months.
Students of the university, however, argued that the suspension of their leaders have to do with their recent agitation for better welfare conditions on campus.

Lassa Fever: Family Abandons Victim’s Corpse In National Hospital Mortuary

More than two weeks after his death, the corpse of the patient that died of Lassa fever is still at the National Hospital in Abuja and yet to be buried.

Although the details of the delay for the burial were still sketchy, a source in the hospital said that the family might have abandoned the corpse “because of the manner of the death.”

The 33-year-old newly-married man lived in Jos, Plateau State, but came to see a relative in Kubwa because of his illness.

CBN Forex Restriction: Nigeria Loses 50% Cargoes To Cotonou Port

The Shippers` Association Lagos State on Tuesday said 50 per cent of cargoes meant for Nigerian ports were being diverted to Cotonou port as a result of the Central Bank `s forex restriction on some imported items.

The President of the association, Mr Jonathan Nicol made the disclosure while speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said that many Nigerian shippers had diverted their cargoes to the ports in the Republic of Benin since the policy started, adding that there were less restrictions on imports in the West African country.

Nicol said the development had deprived Nigeria a lot of revenue, urging the Federal Government to ease the policy to boost revenue.

A 59-year-old landlady, Mrs Floyinka Ayinda has been arrested and detained at Idimu division for her alleged role in vandalising NNPC pipeline in Isheri Olofin area of Lagos State, western Nigeria.
Ayinda allegedly connected a pipe inside her water well to NNPC pipeline and has been siphoning petrol illegally for the past three years.

The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami has disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government may soon initiate probe into the Siemens and Halliburton bribery scandals.
